“Do whatever it takes.” That’s one of the rules of Uncommon Schools, which fosters charter schools that prepare low-income students to graduate college. Doug Menuez photographed a series of ads for the Manhattan-based nonprofit organization that communicate the beauty of helping a child realize his or her potential. The campaign, which was produced by creative-services agency Re:Vision, is aimed at recruiting teachers. Menuez, a veteran photojournalist, shot the images in black and white, giving them a documentary feel—and making them all the more poignant.
