A few months ago, Time magazine commissioned Erik Madigan Heck to shoot a portrait of photographer Taryn Simon for a feature on her project “A Living Man Declared Dead and Other Chapters I–XVIII,” which made its U.S. premiere in May at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
