The National Portrait Gallery in London yesterday hosted a special preview of its exhibition “Road to 2012” for Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton. The show, which “celebrates those who are collectively making the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games happen,” features portraits by seven acclaimed U.K.-based photographers, including Nadav Kander.
Kate toured the exhibition and met some of the athletes photographed for the show, as well as chatted with the photographers. Below, a still from a video of her tour in which she speaks with Nadav. (View the full video here.)

Nadav produced two sequences of portraits for the exhibition—“dramatic images of talented young athletes [that] contrast with his quiet, sensitive approach to the Torch Bearers selected to carry the Olympic flame,” in the words of the National Portrait Gallery.
At the “Road to 2012” website, you can view all 14 of Nadav’s portraits plus behind-the-scenes videos of his shoots. There’s also a video interview with him.
