Art Directors Club event focuses on creatives directors’ “mass exodus from Madison Avenue to Silicon Valley”

This sounds like an interesting event: Next month, the Art Directors Club in New York is hosting a series of talks by ad-industry creative directors who left their agencies to start a tech business.

“Startup” will feature former creative directors such as Elizabeth Valleau, who left R/GA to launch upscale mayo company Empire Mayonnaise; and David Carson, who left Ogilvy & Mather to launch broadband entertainment site Heavy.com, which he sold after a decade for a tidy sum and then returned to O&M in 2010. He’ll be unveiling his latest startup at this event.

“Startup” is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. September 20 at the Art Directors Club, 106 W. 29th St., between 6th and 7th avenues. Admission is $35 for nonmembers. More details and registration info here.
