Doug Menuez on exhibiting, and viewing new work, at Visa pour l’image 2012

Visa pour l’image festival, which began on Saturday, is hosting an exhibition of photos from Doug Menuez‘s Silicon Alley project “Fearless Genius.” What’s it like showing your work at this prestigious photo festival? Jean Jacques Naudet, cofounder of Le Journal de la Photographie, asked Doug to write a journal about his experiences for the popular photo website.

“I was anxious to see my exhibit, how the prints turned out and how it was hung,” writes Doug in his first entry. “Then I thought about the work here—so many brilliant photographers and exhibitions. I wondered what I might see that would inspire me. I don’t see enough new work but when I do, I remember it’s necessary, like breathing.”
