The Land of Nod—the kid-centric Crate and Barrel furniture company—commissioned Melanie Acevedo for their new catalog, a project that gave her the chance to combine her panache at shooting stylish interiors with her skill at photographing kids in archetypal kid moments.
“Melanie’s energy is wonderful, and her photography exudes a joyful and spirited approach,” says Cara M. Reche, associate art director at the Land of Nod. “I love working with her not only because she is she technically gifted with her lighting and thoughtful compositions, but she is hilarious and her fun personality brings out the best in our models.”
Cara shot some behind-the-scenes images during the prepping and shooting of one of the rooms—the “Fade to Pink” room—and was kind enough to share some of them with us.
“I was inspired to document the progression of the ‘Fade to Pink’ room because the bedding was gorgeous, and a lot of the crew participated in building the room,” she explains. “The vibe was great that day, and Melanie even wrapped herself in the duvet, displaying her versatile talents as both a photographer and model! The final shot was breathless, and in classic Melanie style, she did exactly what needed to be done for another successful photograph for our catalog.”
