New personal work: Jason “Giblin” Hindley’s “Automobiles,” a photographic observation of cars in their environments

Advertising photographer Jason “Giblin” Hindley has been working on a personal project on cars and has recently produced an online book of the photos. “Automobiles,” which can be viewed for free at issuu.com, is “a photographic observation of automobiles captured in their various environments, sort of like portraits of cars,” explains Jason, whose other personal projects include a series on discarded Christmas trees. “I wanted to photograph automobiles in the same way I approach my many other subjects: avoiding overworked, glossy, perfect imagery we are used to seeing in today’s car advertising.”
