Celebrity and entertainment photographer Kwaku Alston has just launched Supernova, a biannual magazine inspired by his many personal photo projects and designed by U.K.-based art director Martin Lear.

The 67-page premiere issue features images from Kwaku’s ongoing series on Venice Beach, California, where he lives and which he has photographed since moving there from New York City.

“For the last 12 years, I have been documenting what has been taking place within the boundaries of this unique place,” says Kwaku, “which also happens to be where I work, where I live, and where I share the journeys, hope, and dreams of my fellow Venetians.”

“My whole aim with this publication was to absorb and reflect Kwaku’s neigborhood’s diversity and vibrant characters in a design format that is as individual and eclectic as his own personal visual voyage,” says Martin.

Future issues of Supernova will explore Kwaku’s series on subjects such as pregnancy and motherhood (he and his wife are expecting their first child next month) and on documentary projects he has shot in Brazil and India.

Supernova is available at select shops in Venice Beach and online at magcloud.com (direct link: http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/417316). Below, a peek inside…
