Jeff Lipsky is known for the feel-good vibe of his shoots, but his recent session with chart-topping country trio Lady Antebellum—shooting the packaging for their new holiday album, On This Winter’s Night—was even more cheerful than usual.
The band had won the Grammy for Country Album of the Year the night before the shoot and were, understandably, ecstatic—even though they had stayed up all night in Los Angeles celebrating their win and had to then travel on their bus to the location in Utah.
Why Utah? Because the idea was to get wintery shots of them, shots with snow. Only there wasn’t any snow where they were slated to shoot. Or there wasn’t until the night of the Grammys, when two feet of snow miraculously blanketed the location, giving Jeff precisely the winter wonderland he needed.
“It was a beautiful, magical shoot,” says Jeff.
