Art Streiber, one of the best-known, most-prolific portrait and entertainment photographers in the country, has just joined the Stockland Martel roster. And we’re thrilled to be representing him.

Over the past 17 years, Art has been commissioned by every major American culture-oriented magazine, from Vanity Fair, Entertainment Weekly, and Rolling Stone to Esquire, Wired, and Time, resulting in an archive of portraiture of the most intriguing newsmakers at the start of the 21st century.

Based since 1993 in his hometown of Los Angeles (he’s a fourth-generation Californian), Art is also a regular contributor to and collaborator with all of the major Hollywood studios and networks, having shot posters and related promotional collateral for ABC, CBS, NBC, HBO, MTV, Universal Studios, DreamWorks, and Sony Pictures.

His imagery is clean and graphic, and he prefers to photograph his subjects in their natural environments, or in a situation that helps tell their particular story. “I come from a reportage background and from environmental portraiture,” Art explains. “Using context to help the viewer understand the subject is key. I always fall in love with the available light in a given space and either attempt to use it to my benefit or to mimic and enhance it.”

For a portfolio in the August 2009 issue of Vanity Fair, Art re-created the 1940 film "The Grapes of Wrath" using the cast of Ang Lee's movie "Taking Woodstock."

“I’m heavily influenced by Arnold Newman, Richard Avedon and Annie Leibovitz, in terms of making the portrait appear to be ‘found’ and yet at the same time seem very subtly designed,” he adds.

Art not only delivers great imagery on every assignment, he also makes the process enjoyable for everyone involved. “Being photographed can be a surreal experience, so I try to make it as natural and unpretentious as possible,” he says.

“The same goes for the style of my photography. I try to achieve a look that is organic and accessible, but at the same time I want to keep my portraiture elevated and noble. I’m attempting to celebrate who my subjects are and what they have achieved.”

We’re thrilled to welcome Nino Munoz to the Stockland Martel roster. Nino is a celebrity, fashion, and lifestyle photographer known for his sexy but sophisticated visual style and personal charm. His work has been published worldwide, including in The Face, InStyle, The New York Times Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, and Arena.

Nino’s first-ever assignment was shooting a fashion story with Gisele Bundchen for British Vogue, and the two remain good friends to this day. Lipsky’s background is also unusual. Before moving to Southern California in 1998 to pursue photography, he spent a decade in the mountains of Telluride, Colorado, where he worked as a fly-fishing guide in the summer and went snowboarding in the winter. Although his lifestyle now is very different—he lives in Venice Beach with his wife and son—he and his subjects often bond over their shared passion for sports and nature. For a Men’s Health assignment, in fact, he went heli-snowboarding in Alaska with skateboard legend Tony Hawk. “I spent seven days with Tony in bottomless powder and took a beautiful portrait of him,” recalls Lipsky.

At the moment, Lipsky’s got a full agenda, and it’s typically diverse. He’s shooting a movie poster for The Tooth Fairy, for which he’ll photograph The Rock (actor Dwayne Johnson) wearing fairy wings; a portrait of Lost star Josh Holloway for EW; and a portrait for Vogue. He also just shot Animal Planet host David Salmoni, an assignment that involved live lions, tigers, and elephants. Lipsky may be far from the wilds of Colorado, but at least he still gets to have a wild time.
