The competition was intense for Communication Arts‘ 2011 Photography Annual, with more than 5,000 entries vying for the approbation of the five-member jury. Among the 166 winners were three of our photographers: Nadav Kander, Art Streiber, and Liz Von Hoene, whose winning images are posted below. (Full gallery here.) We congratulate them and all of the photogs included in this important volume.

The star of the new Rebecca Moses “Heart Soul Style” campaign is a happy inhabitant of a rather luxe shadow world. All around her are signifying silhouettes—of Paris, her handsome home, even her well-groomed poodle. It’s an artful lark.

And the photographer who brought this playful world to light? It’s Liz Von Hoene, who has a special way with adding a note of whimsy to a chic campaign without sacrificing an ounce of high style or polish.

Liz’s buoyant 12-page Rebecca Moses portfolio just made its debut in the September issue of InStyle. (One of the spreads is also appearing in the September issue of Vogue.) And now it’s premiering right here too:
