The current issue of Entertainment Weekly offers an exclusive preview of the superheroes in the highly anticipated movie The Avengers, which is headed to theaters in May. Michael Muller shot the Marvel-ous portraits—of Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans, and Robert Downey Jr.—published with the story. Here’s a look.

Academy Awards portraits gallery!

In honor of this year’s Academy Awards, which gets started at Sunday at 8 PM EST on ABC, I thought I’d show off some of the portraits our photographers have taken of the 2010 nominees over the years. And then, out of curiosity, I started researching which previous nominees and winners our photographers have shot. The grand total? 76 performers and 12 photographers. (And I don’t doubt I missed a few.)

So here are the current nominees. And below that is a link to massive slideshow of nominees and winners past. In many cases, the same performer was shot by more than one of our photogs, so I included the same person more than once because, you know, it’s fun to compare and contrast.

Celebrity portraits from Comic-Con

More than 125,000 people turned out for Comic-Con International in San Diego July 22 through 26, including quite a few famous faces from Hollywood—Robert Downey Jr., Rachel McAdams, Josh Brolin, Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly, and many more.

Entertainment Weekly commissioned Michael Muller to shoot portraits of the event’s celebrity attendees, and his 34-photo portfolio is featured at the magazine’s website: http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20213067_20213322_20293715,00.html.

Jim Fiscus, meanwhile, seems to have a fan in Reuters photographer Mike Blake, who snapped this photo at Comic-Con of a Dexter ad from a campaign Jim shot. Killer indeed.
