Nino Muñoz shoots nude Kate Walsh cover for Shape magazine

Multitalented actress Kate Walsh—star of the ABC series Private Practice and the upcoming film The Perks of Being a Wallflower, not to mention a successful perfumier (she’s just launched the second fragrance in her Boyfriend line of perfumes)—posed for Nino Muñoz recently. For the cover of Shape. In the nude.

The cover has gotten a lot of press, au naturelly: “Kate Walsh may be 44 years old, but she’s not afraid to show some serious skin. In fact, the Private Practice star leaves little to the imagination on the cover of Shape magazine’s March issue,” wrote The Huffington Post. “Right now, I feel really healthy, confident, and sexy,” she said about her decision to pose nude for the cover. “I’m enjoying my 40s and wanted to share that. Is it a mid-life crisis? I do drive a Porsche, so maybe it is!”

Nino—who photographed Kate at Pier 59 in Santa Monica—worked with Ben Margherita, Shape‘s creative director, and Toni Paciello, the magazine’s photo director. Additional credits:

The fight stuff: “Hunger Games” star Leven Rambin by Jorg Badura

Actress Leven Rambin had to get in top form for her role in the highly anticipated action thriller The Hunger Games, and Shape magazine commissioned Jorg Badura to photograph just how mighty she is for its April issue. On set, Jorg—who is an athlete himself—wanted to give Leven time to warm up. He also wanted to show her looking strong but…“graceful.”

“And she was not into it,” Jorg says, admiringly. “So I said, ‘Okay, let’s see how you fight.’ And she snapped right into it.” He volunteered his assistant Nik to stand in as Leven’s pretend target. “Look at the gif—she gets so close to his chin!” says Jorg. “She’s working on a surf movie right now, and she’s in the water every day. She’s got these shoulders… She’s powerful as hell.”

Molly Sims offers her “best get-fit tips” in Shape‘s January 2012 cover story, which was photographed at Milk Studios in Los Angeles by Nino Muñoz. He worked with Shape creative director Ben Margherita and photo director Toni Paciello, though his chief collaborator was, of course, Molly herself. “Molly was energetic, funny, quick, smart, and beautiful—a total pleasure to photograph,” Nino says.
