Jorg Badura phoned me this morning to ask if we could post an appeal for help on behalf of the people of Haiti, who have been devastated by yesterday’s catastrophic earthquake. Jorg’s good friend David Belle runs the Ciné Institute in Jacmel, a film school on the southern coast of Haiti that David (an American filmmaker) established to provide education and training to youths interested in working in media. So the matter is of personal concern to Jorg. Naturally, he’s worried about the students and their families and is eager to assist in the donation effort. So are we.

It is crucial to provide the relief organizations with the funds needed NOW to save the lives of the survivors and prevent further escalation of the already incomprehensible reality of this event.
Haiti does not have the infrastructure to deal with a disaster of this magnitude. This is the moment where you can really make a difference.
