Steve "Lips" Kudlow of Anvil photographed by Lauren Greenfield
It’s hard to imagine that Anvil ever had to battle for recognition. The heavy-metal band, whom the press has crowned the “demigods of Canadian rock,” have been basking in nothing but admiring attention since Anvil! The Story of Anvil opened in April. The award-winning documentary chronicles the group’s rise and fall and struggle to rise again, from the release of their groundbreaking album Metal on Metal in 1982 to their fight to maintain their rock-god status, not to mention their hair (middle age can be so cruel). Lauren Greenfield photographed the movie’s premiere at the John Anson Ford Amphitheater in Los Angeles, where Anvil also performed a blistering set. There’s a portfolio of her images here (http://www.viiphoto.com/showstory.php?nID=923), including this one of Steve “Lips” Kudlow wielding his Flying V. Long may he rock.
