I’ll be taking in all the seminars that I can, wandering the trade-show floor, and filing reports here at the blog.
Meanwhile, tonight is the Lucie Awards at Lincoln Center. Bill and Maureen and I will be there, awaiting the announcement of the IPA Photographer of the Year Award. Nadav Kander is a finalist. He is also nominated in the Print Advertising Campaign of the Year for his Puma L.I.F.T ads. Go, Nadav!
I also saw via Facebook that Allegra Wilde is organizing a tribute to Irving Penn. I know my friend the food stylist Victoria Granof (who I met through Stockland Martel, as she has collaborated quite a bit with Hans Gissinger and Craig Cutler) was going to submit something inspired by her years working with Mr. Penn. I’m looking forward to that.
Tonight at the Lucies, they’ll also be naming the Photography Magazine of the Year from the following shortlist: Aperture, burn, C International Photo Magazine, Foam International Photography Magazine, GUP, Lunatic, and Nueva Luz Photographic Journal. Given how tough it is to produce a quality magazine—even an online one—in these economically unfavorable times, it’s extra nice to see these publications get a little limelight.
