I am a fan, of course, of Walter’s work, and I have always like his landscapes a lot. When I saw the blog today it struck a chord with me. I am fortunate to have a window that looks out over San Francisco Bay from Telegraph Hill. When I’m at home I shoot whatever happens out there that’s interesting(ships passing, strange light and clouds, neighbors barbecuing on the roof, passing aircraft, etc.). Of course the original, and best, at this kind of thing was the great Ruth Orkin and her book A World Through My Window.

I can attest to that bright yellow/red/orange sunrise/sunset. I’ve snapped a few photos of fishermen at Montauk beaches over the years. What a great place to shoot, but, shhhh…don’t tell Walter I said that. It’s his secret. :)
