Timothy’s Poise commercials, which star Whoopi as a variety of famous women, have been a big, big hit—not just well received but widely written about. And now we hear that one of the spots will be airing during the Academy Awards telecast this Sunday. That’s a huge coup for Timothy—and, frankly, for any director. Congratulations, Timothy!
Previously, I posted a montage of the commercials, but you really need to see them separately to fully appreciate the humor and hard work that went into them. Timothy directs Whoopi as she impersonates the Statue of Liberty, Mona Lisa, Eve, and others. The results are classic.

In other news, Timothy’s book Match Prints—featuring music portraits by him and Jim Marshall—is now in stores. This past weekend, the Wall Street Journal‘s Speakeasy blog, which covers, media, entertainment, celebrities, and the arts, published this photo of Timothy and Jim, taken by Gus Philippas the day the two met:

Timothy has an ever evolving world of creativity. I had the odd experience of meeting him ten years after I used him as an example of “How To Get Your Dream Job”(the story of how he got his job with Rolling Stone Mag).
His humbleness overwhelms me at times. He doesn’t suffer from the Movie Star Elitism.
