Nadav Kander’s Bicycle Diaries: Meet the Bike

Nadav has just embarked on an epic bike ride to raise money for the pediatric department of congenital heart disease and the Lymphoma Service at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and for the Evelina Children’s Hospital, both in London. On Tuesday, he began the journey, which will take him from the top of Italy, northeast of Milan, down through the flatlands to the Alps, and through a 2,000-meter climb, before settling into a further 300 miles of French road.

By October 2nd, he hopes to have completed 600 miles. Including his training, he will actually have ridden some 3,000 miles by the end. My legs ache just thinking about it.

Throughout his adventure, he’ll be sending me photos and video, which I’ll post in a series called Nadav Kander’s Bicycle Diaries.

These two photos were taken before he left and show off the sturdy steed that will be Nadav’s best friend through this journey. The bike, which Nadav has named Lrorella, was designed and built by legendary bicycle-frame builder Dario Pegoretti.

Dav, you 3 (musketeers)have a great ride; can’t wait to see more pics! Your book is magnificent–Cov has, Tam hasn’t, seen it yet. The text is excellent too.
How high do you ride in the Alps? Got oxygen? “Look Mum, no hands; can breathe!” Love you, Mum.
