Hans Gissinger will be talking about his work as part of a panel discussion on food photography tonight at the Levi’s Workshop in New York. From the Workshop’s site:
“We’ve brought in a wide range of experts, including Hans Gissinger, Swallow Magazine‘s James Casey, Edible Manhattan/Edible Brooklyn‘s photo director Michael Harlan Turkell, food stylist Victoria Granof and Swedish chef-turned-food photographer Marcus Nilsson. As an added treat, we will have the Van Leeuwen Artisanal Ice Cream truck parked outside in a rare cold weather (okay, it’s a warmish November day) visit to SoHo!”
The event kicks off at 6. Can’t wait!
Meanwhile, if you’ve been planning your feast for Thanksgiving next week, you’ve probably got a copy of the November issue of Bon Appetit, which features a massive portfolio shot by Hans and styled by Victoria, with whom he’s collaborated many times over the past 11 years.
“When it came time to photograph our Thanksgiving recipe feature,” write the editors of Bon Appetit in the Contributors page, “we called in our dream team: photographer Hans Gissinger, producer Rebecca Donnelly, prop stylist Jocelyn Beaudoin, and food stylist Victoria Granof. To tell this year’s Thanksgiving story, they trekked to upstate New York this summer with produce, dishware, and turkeys in tow for a weeklong stay at picturesque Glynwood Farm.”
And here they are…
