Kwaku Alston will be speaking on “Unique Beauty” next Thursday, September 22, at the Annenberg Space for Photography. Here’s the official description of his talk, which is part of the Annenberg’s IRIS Nights Lecture Series:

“As an award-winning celebrity photographer, Kwaku Alston has made a career of working with beautiful people. As a humanist, he does not restrict his definition of beauty to Hollywood’s narrow standards. Instead, he focuses on connecting with the spirit of the individual and bringing out their unique beauty. Among those he has photographed is First Lady Michelle Obama, Brad Pitt, Drew Barrymore and Teri Hatcher.

In his IRIS Nights lecture, Alston will show a selection of his celebrity and personal portraits, as well as discuss symbols of beauty in our culture and how he responds to or draws influence from them. In addition, Alston, who is also a sought-after advertising photographer, will reflect on his experiences with how beauty is defined in the creative industry.”

The first batch of tickets for his lecture has sold out, and though the second batch went on sale at noon today (EST), there’s already a waiting list. Admission is free, but seating is limited. Go here to add your name.
