David Drebin: “We’re all voyeurs, aren’t we?”

Gina Salamone of the New York Daily News interviewed David Drebin about the “voyeuristic views” in his new book, The Morning After, for a feature that appeared in the newspaper last week. Here’s an excerpt:

Central Park has been captured by countless photographers – amateurs and professionals – but few shots are as dramatic as one David Drebin took for his latest book. A cityscape with the park as the focus is just one of the scenic shots featured in “The Morning After,” a collection of 97 photos by the New York–based artist.

The photographs in the book were taken in major cities around the world, from New York and Los Angeles to Berlin, Paris and Hong Kong. … While some of the “Morning After” photos are landscapes, others offer voyeuristic views of gorgeous, well-dressed women.

“I like looking at things from the inside out and the outside in, so you get both,” he says. “We’re all voyeurs, aren’t we?”

I am just curious about the choice of language in the title of the photo of the woman with the orange dress. Why did he title his photo with the term “girl”? Is the subject in the photo a child under 18 years of age. In that case, there is something oddly mature about this “girl” and the photo becomes quite eerie and takes on another meaning. Is that intentional or unintentional?
