Erik Madigan Heck recently released the new Nomenus Quarterly, and for the first time he’s built an issue of the coveted culture mag around a theme. The “America” issue of Nomenus “is an attempt to arrange a selection of contemporary art that holds a mirror up to the face of the United States today, and to its recent past,” Erik writes in his editor’s letter.
Featured in the issue are, among other highlights, drawings by Richard Serra, selections from Steidl‘s William Eggleston book Before Color, watercolors by film director Gus Van Sant, and features on the artist Kiki Smith and the model Carmen Dell’Orifice, both of whom Erik photographed for the magazine.
