Rizzoli has just released a handsome and hefty book on the American designer Rick Owens, who the venerable publisher describes thusly: “Defiantly antifashion, Rick Owens’s honest and intensely personal approach to craft has ironically produced some of the most sublime fashion of the last two decades, propelling him to the front ranks of the international avant-garde.” The book, which includes contributions by Purple magazine cofounder Olivier Zahm and curator/writer/critic Francesco Bonami, features an interview with Owens and Erik. More details here.
Elsewhere in the world of notable creative figures, there’s a new Gabriel Orozco monograph, this one issued by Marian Goodman Gallery, and it includes a full-page portrait of the artist by Erik.
And a portrait Erik took of artist Kiki Smith was used for the cover of the new Dossier, a Brooklyn-based biannual arts and culture magazine featuring fashion, photography, creative writing, art, music, and “culinary pursuits.” In addition to Smith, issue 8 includes contributions by Yoko Ono, Michael Stipe, Stevie Nicks, Sloane Crosley, and Robert Longo. More on that here.
