If you haven’t already, it’s time to bookmark http://huffingtonpost.com. Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, a longtime Huffington Post contributor, has started a new column of portraits and text, exclusively for the website.
Greenfield-Sanders will be using this coveted online real estate to showcase portraits of iconic personalities, accompanied by his own thoughts on the subject. In some cases, there will also be commentary from the subjects themselves. Today’s post, which marks the portrait column’s debut, features actor/comedian Sandra Bernhard and includes a ruminative email she wrote to the photographer about his work. Among the inspirations for her letter is his prized 8”x10” Deardorff, with which he also shoots large-format Polaroid 809 film.
“When I heard they were discontinuing all Polaroid stock, it hit me in a strange place. I was concerned for Timothy, but for myself too,” Bernhard writes. “I long for things that are tangible, that maybe take an extra minute but you can keep them, and they’re yours.”
Naturally, there’s a terrific photograph (see below) to go with the post, which you can read in its entirety here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/timothy-greenfieldsanders/sandra-bernhard-original_b_212294.html
