Lauren Greenfield at the New York Photo Festival

I’m really looking forward to the New York Photo Festival, which kicks off on Wednesday night in DUMBO and features main-stage exhibitions curated by Vince Aletti (titled “Object Lesson”), Erik Kessels (“Use Me, Abuse Me”), Fred Ritchin (“Bodies in Question”), and Lou Reed (“Hidden Books, Hidden Stories”).

Our own Lauren Greenfield, who is in town to direct a commercial for Girosa for the agency Digitas,  will be part of two events at NYPH. On Thursday at 11 a.m., she’ll be participating in a panel discussion called “New Directions in Storytelling,” moderated by Elisabeth Biondi, visual editor of The New Yorker. The discussion, which will also feature photographers Gillian Laub, Ron Hornstra, and Jeff Jacobson, will “endeavor to explore how visual artists are adapting to the rapid changes in media platforms and distribution.” Admission is free, but seating is limited, so it’s best to arrive early.

Later that same day, Lauren will be showing her Fashion Show video piece alongside Lou Reed’s multimedia work during a screening at 8:30 p.m. at St. Ann’s Warehouse.

For more details on all the festival events and exhibitions, check out the NYPH website.
