New work: John Offenbach photographs the latest Serpentine Pavilion

The latest Serpentine Gallery Pavilion, commissioned each year by London’s Serpentine Gallery for summertime installation in Hyde Park, has just made its debut. A review in the U.K.’s Telegraph describes the structure, conceived by Pritzker Prize winner Peter Zumthor, as “a garden within a garden.”

“From the outside, Swiss architect Peter Zumthor’s pavilion is a mere shadow of a structure, and will attract the attention of only the most curious of park-goers,” writes Florence Waters of The Telegraph. “Yet those that do venture inside will be richly rewarded because this, the 11th commission in the Gallery’s annual series, is one of the most confident and successful yet.”

The Serpentine Gallery commissioned John Offenbach, who has documented many of the previous pavilions, to photograph Zumthor’s structure. Here’s a look:
