The SurfAid Cup Malibu can always be counted on for a good time in the name of a good cause. The surfing competition, hosted by SurfAid, attracts both top surfers and amateurs, all of whom pour their heart and their time into raising funds for the nonprofit humanitarian organization.
At this year’s SurfAid Cup, which took place earlier this month, Steven Lippman and his team, the SurfAiders, placed third among 11 teams and raised more than $6,000, contributing to a total of $75,000 raised for SurfAid.
The competition was set up as a tag-team event, and in between heats, Steven made time to shoot portraits of some of his fellow competitors (including pro surfers Tom Curren, Greg Long, Reef McIntosh, and Travis Logie); his son, Ryder, who came out to support his dad; and a couple of the locals, like Malibu Carl, seen below with his shirt pulled up above his belly…
