Walter Iooss’ Montauk: Rock steady

I got an email from Walter, and this is what it said:

.

"a more beautiful montauk. saturday, 6:00, ...simone." —Walter Iooss

.

I knew people were gonna want to know the story behind the photo. I wrote him back, and I couldn’t resist a little sarcasm: “So you were walking by and just found her on this rock, right?”

The thing about Walter is, he doesn’t mind a little sarcasm and is even a sometime practitioner of it himself.

“incredible,” he wrote. “she was just laying there and i shot with my point and shoot……… hell no, a personal shoot. that rock was named veronkia’s rock after v. varikova. now re-christened simone’s rock.”

There you have it.
