Julian Lennon made his official debut as a fine-art photographer in New York last week, with the opening of his solo exhibition, “Timeless,” at the Morrison Hotel Gallery in Soho. The show is the result of a year-plus collaboration between Julian and Timothy White.
“Julian would fly in from the south of France where he lives, and we would sit in my studio and shave and edit the photos down,” Timothy told Alexandra Cheney of The Wall Street Journal, who reported on the reception for the paper’s “Speakeasy” blog. “He was holding back a while, had a lot in his heart and his mind, and now it’s out there.”

The two met 25 years ago, when Timothy photographed Julian’s first two album covers. “Lennon asked White to curate his first show in which all the pieces, with the exception of the roughly half dozen U2 photos that the group will use as art for their next album, are priced at $3,500 unframed,” reports the Journal.
The opening reception for “Timeless” was mobbed with celebrity well wishers, Julian’s family, and photographers. To see some party snaps—including photos of Timothy, Julian, Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon, Bob Gruen, Mick Rock, Legs McNeil, and Rick Horowitz—go here.
