We’re thrilled to announce that Erik Madigan Heck photographed Neiman Marcus’ new Art of Fashion campaign—and proud to note that he’s the youngest photographer in the history of Neiman’s to do so.
“We wanted to pair up this season’s exquisite fashions with a true creative visionary,” Eddie Nunns, vice president of Neiman Marcus brand creative, told Women’s Wear Daily. “Erik Madigan Heck’s work blurs the lines between photography and art, and through his illustrative approach he created stunning images that differentiate this campaign from any other.” (Full story at wwd.com.)
As Racked.com noted Monday in an article on Erik and the campaign, “…Despite Heck’s age, Neiman’s isn’t exactly going out on a limb with its choice: the well-regarded photog has shot campaigns with Proenza Schouler, Valentino, Haider Ackermann, and Lanvin Paris, to name a few.”
Neiman’s Art of Fashion campaigns have famously been shot by some of photography’s most celebrated talents, including Richard Avedon, Arthur Elgort, Helmut Newton, Annie Leibovitz, Lillian Bassman, Paolo Roversi, and Matthew Rolston.
Erik’s 20-page Art of Fashion portfolio will be published in the September issues of Vogue and Vanity Fair and in Neiman’s The Book. But you can get an early look if you go to neimanmarcus.com or click on the screenshot below…

Erik also assembled three short films to accompany the campaign. They’re on view at Neiman Marcus’ YouTube channel (and at nmdaily.com), where they’re described thusly:
“Photographer Erik Madigan Heck’s saturated and seemingly brush stroked shots blur the line between photographs and paintings. This surrealist specialization carries out to another medium of creativity for the artist, film. As a supplement to the captivating Fall 2012 Art of Fashion campaign in the September issue of The Book, NM commissioned three art films from the youngest artist ever to shoot for the storied spread.”
