The annual LOOK3 Festival kicks off next Wednesday in Charlottesville, Virginia, featuring a host of exhibitions and a lineup of renowned image makers: Walter Iooss, Alec Soth, Larry Fink, Monica Haller, David Alan Harvey, Vincent J. Musi, Piotr Naskrecki, and Andrea Douglas.
On Friday, there will be an artist’s talk with Walter led by Steve Fine, who for nearly 20 years was the director of photography at Sports Illustrated and is now the photo editor at Flipboard. There will also be an exhibition of Walter’s work, called “The Sporting Life.”
The mission of the festival, which is produced by the nonprofit organization LOOK3, is “to celebrate the vision of extraordinary photographers, ignite conversations about critical issues, and foster the next generation of artists.” This year’s fest was curated by Kathy Ryan, director of photography for The New York Times Magazine, and independent curator Scott Thode.
