Better off TED
…
Have you heard of TED? This is what it is:
“TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with the annual TED Conference in Long Beach, California, and the TEDGlobal conference in Oxford UK, TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Program, the new TEDx community program, this year’s TEDIndia Conference and the annual TED Prize.”
TED also inspired TEDx, a series of local, self-organized events, and Doug Menuez is speaking at one on November 17 in San Francisco. The subject of TEDxSF is “Creativity & Reinvention,” and if you read Doug’s blog or have read any of his interviews, you know that he is an insightful speaker and a perfect pick for this subject. Doug documented Silicon Valley from 1985 to 2000, and he will be sharing his observations in his presentation “Fearless Genius: How Silicon Valley Innovation Transformed the World.”
