A NEW update on the “gnarly” Kilimanjaro climb

They made it! The Summit on the Summit team made it to the top of Kilimanjaro with their good humor intact. The SoS website isn’t updated with images yet, but the blog First Ascent has posted a photo of the climbers taken by Michael:

People magazine yesterday filed an update on the hardy Summit on the Summit climbers who are ascending Mt. Kilimanjaro for a good cause. It sounds like Michael Muller and his fellow trekkers are making the best of a tough task. Here’s an excerpt from People mag writer Joanne Fowler’s report:

Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsch and Isabel Lucas trudged through a blizzard Monday on the fifth day of their hike with other entertainers and activists up 19,340-foot Mt. Kilimanjaro.

“It’s pretty gnarly,” Elizabeth Gore, an executive with the United Nations Foundation, and one of the participants of the trek to raise awareness of global water issues, tells PEOPLE by satellite phone. “The visibility is only 10 feet in front of you. And it’s cold. I’ve got six layers on.”

Wow. Can’t wait to see Michael’s pictures from the trip.
