It’s a series of images. A clownish bunch of cruise-boat captains, all in their ship-shape whites, mug for the camera, while next to them there’s a chunk of copy that talks about “behaving like a German soccer team in sailor disguise.” Next, she’s a dreamy young bohemian in a colorfully painted vintage RV, and she’s composed an email about her joint-smoking, hippie grandma. The text of the email, which is addressed to photographer Uwe Duettmann, is superimposed on the photo of the woman. Elsewhere, there are a handful of smiling guys walking on white sand. They’re wearing bright shirts and pants, all solid colors—they look like crayons. The phrase “Running towards nothing” is scrawled across the bottom of the picture. It’s all part of a recent campaign Duettman shot for Lürzer’s, which the Art Directors Club in Berlin liked so much, they honored it at the ADC Awards on April 25. Duettmann also won an award in the Photography category for a self-produced group of abstract images on architectural technology.
