“It was such an amazing experience,” says Michael Muller of shooting American World Cup alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn, who’s on the comeback trail after knee surgery, for the cover of The Red Bulletin’s January issue. “Lindsey is not only such an amazing specimen of athletics but encompasses a natural beauty that together blend to make the perfect person to shoot.”

To set the mood for the story, which centered on Vonn’s athletic prowess and power and her determination to recover from her injury, Michael played music—specifically, Megadeth, Metallica, and…ABBA.

“We put on her iPod, and I may have put one or two of my playlist on that I had a DJ make for me,” says Michael. “The great thing today is most people come with their own music—it makes it easier than trying to guess what they like to listen to.”

Vonn also posed with her two sisters for the story, a shoot that was captured on video by E! Online. “I have three daughters. It felt like home,” Michael told E!

“We had a good connection,” said Vonn.
