Art Streiber photographs Eva Shockey for historic Field & Stream cover

Field & Stream asked Art Streiber to photograph hunting celebrity and TV host Eva Shockey for the May “What’s Next” issue, the first time in 30 years that a woman has been featured on the cover of the 119-year-old magazine. The “What’s Next” issue offers expert opinions on what the future holds for hunting and fishing.

“The steady and growing number of women who are becoming hunters is really transformative for the outdoor sports,” Anthony Licata, editorial director of Field & Stream, said in a press release for the May issue. “As a spokeswoman for that change, Eva was a clear choice for the cover of our ‘What’s Next’ issue.”

Below, Art’s portraits of Shockey, plus stills from a behind-the-scenes video of their cover shoot. Read the Field & Stream interview with Shockey here.
