Art Streiber photographs “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Andy Samberg posing as Knight Rider, a Banksy mural, and more for the new issue of Complex

For Complex’s October cover story, the magazine enlisted actor/comedian Andy Samberg and photographer Art Streiber to put a comical spin on dressing up for Halloween.

“This was my first shoot for Complex,” notes Art, “and what I loved about collaborating with photo editor Gina Battle and creative director Brent Rollins was their ‘no idea too outrageous’ approach to concepting.”

The mission, explains Art, was to photograph Samberg in “uniquely outrageous, iconic, pop-culture Halloween costumes,” including Knight Rider, Calvin peeing, and a Banksy mural.

“Set designer Walter Barnett and wardrobe stylist Sharon Williams absolutely killed it, fine-tuning and rendering Samberg perfectly for each of the five elaborate setups that we undertook,” says Art.

Samberg’s most difficult challenge of the day, says the photographer, was being rigged to hang from the rafters dressed as a pineapple piñada “while a gaggle of little kids swung sticks at his legs.” And just so we’re all clear, “yes,” Art confirms, “that is a ‘stunt butt’ in the Calvin costume.”
