The venerable auction house describes the jewel as a “superb and highly important” 8.41-carat fancy, vivid purple-pink diamond. “This diamond is rare for its size, beautiful hue, and exemplary rich saturation of colour,” notes Sotheby’s. The jewel went on to fetch $17.7 million at auction earlier this month.
