Jason Hindley has been photographing Japan on and off for a number of years, and the country continues to fascinate and inspire him. During his most recent visit, he found himself drawn to photograph everywhere from bustling Shibuya crossing in Tokyo, to vending machines in Kyoto, to a train station in Osaka and a fireworks show in Atami.
“We took portable flashlights with us and set up these impromptu shoots in the streets of Japan and people just let us get on with it,” says Jason “Even when we were right in the middle of Shibuya crossing—no doubt the world’s busiest crossing—with flashlights aimed in people’s faces! This is one of the many reasons I love Japan so much.”
