Keep your eye on the ball! Behind the eight ball is Kevin Systrom, the co-founder of Instagram, who we photographed a few weeks ago for a feature in this month's WIRED magazine. The article is about how the folks at Instagram are attempting to write code that identifies the worst of the worst of the trolls and haters on IG and automatically delete their posts…essentially, making their platform a nicer place. We are in the #bookstagram conference room at Instagram HQ on the Facebook campus in Menlo Park, turning a smallish room into a photo studio. First, we had to move most of the furniture so that we could sweep a 9’ white seamless. Then we put up a @profotousa beauty dish as our main. No fill. Then we aimed two bare heads into foamcore v-flats on either side of the seamless to get it white white. Then we put a couple of 2×3 black flags on top of those v-flats and above the beauty dish in order to reduce the bounce / spill from the low white ceiling. Lighting by @youknowsean and @brian_barnhart the second time and @fotopimp and @brian_barnhart the first time. Produced on the run by @photogshmotog and produced remotely by @luvlouella. Driving down from Wired HQ in San Francisco was Director of Photography @annagoldwater and Creative Director @davoelmoro and Assistant Photography Editor @laurenjoseph. Digital teching was @johnnytalay the first time and Eric Vlasic the second time. Thank you to the folks at @southwestair. SJC is so much better than SFO for SWA. @instagram @kevin @profotousa @hasselblad_official @phaseonephoto @wired
