Out magazine’s latest issue celebrates “Ladies We Love,” a refreshingly diverse list that ranges from Phyllis Diller, Julia Child, and Chita Rivera to Madonna, Wendy Williams, Britney Spears, and La Roux. These women are “our muses, our solace, our secret alter egos, our escape from the mundane,” write Out‘s editors.
The magazine commissioned Timothy Greenfield-Sanders to shoot some portraits for the feature, including images that they designed as alternate covers for use online. (The team he worked with comprised editor in chief Aaron Hicklin, photo editor Annie Chia, fashion director Grant Woolhead, and junior fashion editor Brent Austin Coover.) Here’s a look at his portraits. Scroll down to the end to see a behind-the-scenes video of one of Timothy’s Out shoots.
