In conjunction with the release of the latest James Bond film, Spectre, Kwaku Alston photographed some of the legendary black women who have costarred in the Bond films: Naomie Harris, Gloria Hendry, and Trina Parks. Essence magazine published the portraits, and there was a splashy event in Los Angeles—the Black Women of Bond Tribute at the California African American Museum—last month celebrating the actresses who are part of that exclusive Bond club.
“For me, it was about being part of the Bond franchise,” Kwaku noted in a video showcasing the event. “I grew up watching Bond movies.”
