Pitchfork, the ultra-cool music website, and Ford have teamed up to bring notable female artists together to talk, hang out, and, well, drive a new car. The “episodes,” as they’re being called, are part of an ongoing series called “In Focus” presented at the website infocus.pitchfork.com. The series debuted with actress and singer Zoë Kravitz (who just signed on to costar with Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon in the upcoming HBO limited series Big Little Lies) and singer SZA, who were photographed by Brinson+Banks.

“We’ve photographed dozens and dozens of musicians over the years, and we always love it!” says Kendrick Brinson. “Musicians often let us experiment a little more because they, too, appreciate creativity.”

“We teamed up with a motion team and spent the day with SZA and Zoë Kravitz in LA with a Ford Focus and a team from Team Detroit and the creative crew at Pitchfork,” explains David Walter Banks. “Pitchfork has really been pushing the boundaries with their Web content, so it was fun to join forces for this one.”

“We also had a lot of downtime during the day because of all the long driving shots in beautiful Griffith Park and might have had an in depth conversation with SZA about her obsession with the idea of taming wild squirrels,” says Kendrick. “It became a running joke the rest of the day.”

She adds, “At one point after shooting in the beautiful golden end-of-the-day light, we walked back to everyone and found out two Team Detroit members had pulled off their own #BrinsonBanksing shot! See it here: instagram.com/p/9Z-el4MkL4/?taken-by=brinsonbanks.”
