Nadav Kander photographs Martin Scorsese for the cover of The New York Times Magazine

Martin Scorsese‘s new film, Silence, explores a subject that, notes The New York Times Magazine in its November 27 cover story, “has animated his entire life’s work and that also sparked his career’s greatest controversy: the nature of faith.” The magazine commissioned Nadav Kander to photograph the famed director for the profile, the result of which is “a beautifully designed feature and my favorite photograph of Martin Scorsese,” says Nadav. “Hands are potent communicators. We decipher their nuance unconsciously when interacting with others.” He adds, “What a passion he has to keep bringing out new films.”
