Brinson+Banks, a.k.a. Kendrick Brinson and David Walter Banks, were recently commissioned to shoot an image library for the Redbury hotel in Miami’s South Beach. Their mission was to show off the updated property, so the shot list included everything from a hotel room to a group enjoying the rooftop pool.
“This shoot for the Redbury was our second time photographing an SBE hotel,” Kendrick explains. “We were excited because their hotels are very stylish and unique, which makes our job more fun.”
It was literally a hot assignment.“When we were shooting at the rooftop pool, our whole team was dousing themselves in sunscreen, hiding under umbrellas, and sweating profusely because it was July—in Miami,” says Kendrick.
And in true Florida fashion, the summer weather changed its mind without notice. “We shot a cocktail party on the roof that started with a gorgeous rainbow and quickly ended in a downpour and the models running for cover,” she recalls.
And yet the duo not only completed the hefty shot list but also found time to shoot additional images that the client fell in love with—“like an aerial of the patio and its gorgeous graphic tiled floors, a couple in the bathtub together, and some more fashioncentric photos outside the hotel.”
There was even a brief dance break. “A favorite memory of the shoot,” says Kendrick, “is when one of our models, Azlin, was jumping on the bed and singing along to Dolly Parton‘s “Jolene”!
