The grand opening of The Redbury New York, the first New York location of the illustrious Redbury boutique hotel chain, will be celebrated with a private invitation-only party on October 25.
Hosting the event will be renowned photographer and director Matthew Rolston, who is the creative director of The Redbury; famed restaurateur Danny Meyer, whose Union Square Hospitality Group is the force behind The Redbury New York’s Roman-inspired pizzeria, Marta; and Sam Nazarian, CEO of sbe, the award-winning hospitality group that established The Redbury brand.
As previously reported, The Redbury is a wildly inventive reimagining of the Martha Washington Hotel in Manhattan’s hip NoMad neighborhood, the first hotel in New York to provide housing for professional women. Rolston—who developed the signature looks for sbe’s two other Redbury hotels, The Redbury South Beach and The Redbury Hollywood and Vine—drew on the site’s proximity to Tin Pan Alley and its rich musical history.
“Rolston worked closely with Dakota Development and Avenue Interiors to incorporate funky patterns, motifs, and visual accents throughout the property,” notes the press release. “Guests are effortlessly transported to another era as they pass through The Redbury New York’s iconic red velvet opera curtain, black-and-white checkered flooring, and an enlarged original photograph of buildings at the heart of Tin Pan Alley, set behind the host desk.”
The Redbury New York boasts 265 rooms, and the cozy, upscale cocktail lounge Bar Marta complements the hotel’s restaurant, Marta.
“Hues of red and green are woven throughout the property with whimsical paisley prints and oriental rugs, balanced with the charm of antique light fixtures and reclaimed furnishings,” the press release notes. “Curated vintage art selections by Rolston that reflect the iconic rock & roll age of New York City are displayed throughout the public spaces and guest rooms.”
